I'm New
Welcome! We’re glad you’re here. We are grateful you’re checking us out and are excited to have you as our guest.
Harbor Churches is a family of churches in the greater Grand Rapids area, and we do our best to help people find their way back to God. Not only is everyone welcome, but we also want you to join us! And when you do, we hope you find loving people, life change, and that you draw closer to God.
At all Harbor churches you’ll find:
- a casual atmosphere
- friendly people to help you find your way
- contemporary music and worship
- relevant messages that apply to your life
- encouragement as we each keep learning how much we matter to God and as we find our way back to him together
Sunday Mornings
Sundays are relaxed and comfortable, and we hope you can truly be yourself. We’re happy to say that we have no specific dress code, and most people come to church or church events in everyday attire. One thing we are not casual about, though, is who we are seeking to become. We believe in a powerful, passionate God whose dreams for us are even bigger than we can imagine. We’ll learn together about the God of the Bible and how to connect our spiritual lives to everyday life. We’ll call each other to a higher standard of love, mission, community, and following Jesus – because finding our way back to God actually matters.
Served up hot every morning for free! Feel free to grab what you need before and after the service and bring your cup into our time of worship together! We have a number of opportunities to serve - both within our church and in our community. Stop by Guest Services on Sunday and someone there will be glad to connect you or visit our volunteer page. We understand how easy it is to come to church and get "lost" in the mix. We don't want that to happen to you! We recommend three things if your hope is to become connected: Harbor Churches is a family of churches that started originally out of Fair Haven Ministries and has now become a multi-site church called Harbor Churches. We have campuses in Grandville, Byron Center, Jamestown, Walker, and Hudsonville. We are all led by our Senior Pastor, Tom Elenbaas with local pastors and staff at each campus, and we are all committed to the same mission of helping people find their way back to God. Though each of our locations is a unique expression of that mission in their local communities, all are part of the same church with the same mission. Each week you'll find that you're not the only one walking into a church for the first time, so you're not alone. We’ll also do our best to communicate the message in a way that doesn't assume you are an expert in Christianity or the Bible. In fact, for many in our community, this is their first church. However, we don't shy away from learning, growing and engaging challenging conversations either. While we share the core theology, convictions and mission of the Reformed Church of America (RCA), most people in our community did not grow up reformed. We’re glad to have you check out the RCA website to learn more about the beliefs and practices of the denomination we call home, but don't worry if that's not what you are familiar with. In fact, we have a wide range of different backgrounds and denominations. There is space for you to belong here, even when we don’t all believe the same things. A multi-site church is a single church that has multiple congregations on multiple sites. Our "family of churches" currently has six locations in Byron Center, Grandville, Hudsonville, Walker, Wyoming, and Jamestown. We're happy to say that we have no specific dress code, and most people come to church or church events in everyday attire. Honestly, we want you ... to be you; so wear what's comfortable. Our worship band leads our worship on Sunday with a full band, including drums, keyboards, electric guitars, and sometimes more! If you listen to Christian radio, you may hear songs you recognize from artists like All Sons and Daughters, Gungor, Hillsong, Bethel, and Passion. Coffee?

We hope that answers some of your questions, but honestly it’s hard to explain who we are through words alone. We would prefer to hang out with you, spend some time together, and get to know you. We hope you’ll take that next step and come join us. We’re expecting you!
