Consistory, December 2015
December 17, 2015
Grit, determination and hard work may be the very thing that keeps our leaders striving to stay on mission, and the lessons of old shape us in our later years. The Bible calls it steadfastness, or endurance as Kyle Bohl shared with us his heart in learning about God’s call for us to work hard toward what matters most. As our senior pastor, Tom Elenbaas continues to strive toward the mission of leading our churches to help people find their way back to God, it is also a balance of Psalm 46:10 that can be translated as “Cease Striving and know that I am God.” That balance in running hard after him while resting in his presence – a combination of mission vs. rest. It all comes down to balance.
As a Consistory, we are working toward the balance of fiscal responsibility and missional planting. That balance begins to dive deeper into details as we begin our need to have financial experts lead us as we determine limits and guidelines to hold our church into a healthy financial picture. Please continue to pray for wisdom for consistory to determine how we lead Harbor Churches to find the balance that will result in more people finding their way back to Him.
