This past Sunday, I had the privilege of meeting with the elders and deacons who make up our Harbor Churches Collegiate Consistory as well as our Campus Leadership Teams from Fair Haven Church, Harbor Life Church, South Harbor Church, and Jamestown Harbor Church. Pastors from all four churches were also present.
For the morning, the Collegiate Consistory spent time together in worship, leadership training, governance review, organizational review, operations updates, and to review changes to the new church plant launch process. In the afternoon, the Harbor Churches Leadership Team (HCLT) joined us for updates on each campus on what’s going well, what concerns they have, what untapped resources they see within their congregation and Harbor Churches, and to share prayer concerns. The HCLT is made up of myself, Lead Pastors from each of the campuses (Greg VanderMeer, Tim Wilson, Scott Pontier, and Tanner Smith), our Executive Director of Operations (Sherri VanderMolen), and our Multisite Director (Joe Graham). Our Campus Leadership Teams (Pastoral Elders and Deacons) then joined us at 4pm, along with several of our other pastors. We spent most of our time together in this last half of the day talking through organizational governance and roles, sharing on the state of the churches, and brainstorming about areas we see need within our churches and cultures.
I was truly blessed to hear the amazing things that continue to happen within our churches. I was also humbled to spend the day with such committed, gifted, and passionate leaders from within our churches – each playing an important role.
